2016 Human Rights Council report and resolution on the right to work  

 

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights requested the ILO to contribute to a report on the realization of the right to work. Using the materials that I worked over the years, I contributed to the preparation of the overview submitted to the Human Rights Council by showing which were the relevant international standards relative to the right to work and how the ILO monitored those standards over the years. Consequently, the HRC adopted Resolution No. L32, on 22 March 2016 stressing that the right to work entails, inter alia, the right not to be deprived of work arbitrarily and unfairly and that States, in accordance with the relevant obligations in relation to the right to work, are required to put in place measures ensuring the protection of workers against unlawful dismissal;
